How to Wash Cashmere Clothes by Hand

Materials Needed:

  • Mild detergent or baby shampoo specifically for delicate fabrics
  • Cold or lukewarm water
  • Large basin or clean sink
  • Clean towels

Steps:

 1. Prepare the Washing Area:

   - Ensure the sink or basin is clean.

   - Fill it with cold or lukewarm water. Avoid hot water as it can shrink the cashmere.

 2. Add Detergent:

   - Pour a small amount of mild detergent or baby shampoo into the water.

   - Stir the water gently to mix the detergent thoroughly.

3. Submerge the Cashmere:

   - Turn the cashmere garment inside out.

   - Submerge it completely in the water, gently squeezing the fabric to help it absorb the water and detergent.

4. Gentle Wash:

   - Gently swirl the garment in the water for a few minutes. Do not rub or wring the fabric to avoid damaging the fibers.

5. Rinse:

   - Drain the soapy water from the basin.

   - Refill with clean, cold water.

   - Swirl the garment again to rinse out the soap. Repeat this process until all the detergent is removed. You may need to rinse several times.

6. Remove Excess Water:

   - Lift the cashmere out of the water, supporting it to prevent stretching.

   - Gently press it against the side of the basin to remove excess water. Do not wring or twist.

7. Drying:

   - Lay a clean, dry towel flat on a surface.

   - Place the cashmere garment flat on the towel.

   - Roll the towel up with the garment inside, pressing gently to absorb more water.

   - Lay another dry towel on a flat surface.

   - Unroll the garment from the first towel and lay it flat on the second towel.

   - Gently reshape the garment to its original dimensions.

 8. Air Dry:

   - Leave the cashmere to air dry on the towel, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Do not hang it up to dry as this can cause stretching.

 9. Final Touches:

   - Once completely dry, if needed, you can lightly steam the cashmere to remove any wrinkles. Avoid direct contact with the iron.

By following these steps, you can ensure your cashmere clothes remain soft, clean, and in good condition.
